Modbus

Modbus or MODBUS is a client/server data communications protocol in the application and has become a de facto standard communication protocol for communication between industrial electronic devices in a wide range of buses and network.
The Modbus protocol uses serial  communication lines and Ethernet as a transport layer. Supporting communication to and from multiple devices connected to the same computer.

LoRa Technology is the DNA of IoT, connecting, low-data rate, sensors to the Cloud and enabling real-time communication of data and analytics that can be utilized to enhance efficiency and productivity.

The LoRaWAN® is a Low Power, Wide Area (LPWA)
networking protocol designed to wirelessly connect nodes to the internet in regional, national or global networks, and targets key Internet of Things (IoT) requirements such as bi-directional communication, end-to-end security, mobility and localization services.
LoRaWAN® network architecture topology enables
gateways to relay messages between end-devices and a central network server.

The LoraWan Gateway is designed to provide a ‘gateway’ between the sensornodes and the internet/application. Knowatt's LoRa Gateway is designed for fit and forget. Designed for 24/7 operation for > 10 yr lifetime and guaranteed for 5 years

All modes are capable of bi-directional communication, and there is support for multicast addressing groups to make
efficient use of spectrum during tasks such as Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) upgrades or other mass distribution messages.
